This Alexandria Moulding 1" x 3" x 8' furring strip is a high-quality utility board designed for structural leveling and spacing in construction and carpentry. Manufactured from kiln-dried White Spruce, these strips offer improved dimensional stability and resistance to warping compared to green lumber. With an actual thickness of 21/32" and a width of 2-1/2", they are ideal for creating a flat surface to attach drywall or paneling over uneven masonry or framing. They are also frequently used to establish essential air gaps behind siding, shingles, or insulation to manage moisture and improve thermal performance. The unfinished natural wood surface is easy to work with and accepts nails, screws, and adhesives readily. Beyond structural use, these versatile strips are suitable for shelving frames, hobby projects, and general finish work.
